Our program was presented by J. W. Rone, Executive Director of the Arts Council of Beaufort County (ACBC), telling us what
programs and grants the ACBC offers for writers.  Several of our members have already won grants from ACBC.

·      Information was shared regarding a 4-week writing workshop in October, “The Truth Is Stranger …,” sponsored by ACBC and
presented by IWN member Melinda Copp.  Melinda is a freelance writer and book editor working on her Master’s in Fine Arts in
creative writing at Goucher College in Baltimore .

·      Thanks to our treasurer Marilyn Lorenz and Ray Berberian for wading through all the paper work and red tape to gain 501(c)
(3) status for IWN.  We are now an officially registered non-profit organization.

·      Thanks to all who staffed the IWN table at Shelter Cove for the Tuesday Fireworks Festivals.  We had representatives there
for 8 Tuesdays and sold a total of 16 copies of our anthology.  One valuable outcome was learning that marketing a book can be
even harder work than writing, editing, or finding a publisher!

·      We have over 200 copies of our 4th printing of Hilton Head Island: Unpacked & Staying available.  If you want more for
yourself (at $8.50 a copy), there will be some at the meeting.  List price is $13.99.

·      Our next marketing push will be for the holiday gift market.  If you have placed books for sale in a store, please check with
them to see if they need more and let Sansing McPherson know.  Also, if you have ideas for outlets we aren’t currently using,
please get a complimentary copy of the anthology to take by for their approval.  We are planning some publicity for the holiday
gift season, which was a very successful market for us last fall.  The publicity should list all our outlets, so we need to be
thorough.

·      Sansing McPherson has volunteered to host our holiday party at her home on Hilton Head Plantation on Monday, December
1, 7:00 p.m.   More information to follow.  Mark your calendars and plan to join us.
