EXPERIENCE prior to retirement

2000 - 2017      Consultant for Mechanical and Energy Engineering and Financial Analysis
                          Associate at
James J. Hirsch and Associates and Energy Ace, Inc.

1986 - 2000           Marketing Staff Engineer, Georgia Power Company
Assisted customers and sales representatives in the review of on-site generation proposals, evaluation of threats and
opportunities posed by dispersed electric generators, investigation of potential new electric products such as district heating
and cooling and thermal storage, and providing engineering, financial, and economic expertise.  A major effort in this position
was the development of detailed computer models to evaluate marketing programs and to determine the optimal sizing,
operation and economics of cogeneration and peak shaving.

1977 - 1986            Economic Analyst, Georgia Power Company
Managed projects involving the design, implementation, and use of simulation models for rates analysis, economic research,
forecasting, financial analysis, and strategy planning.  These projects dealt with electric generation planning, innovative
technologies such as fuel cells and photovoltaics, off-system electric sales opportunities, forecasting electric demands, and
demand side options.

1974 - 1977              Senior Planner, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority
Planned public transit facilities with emphasis on economic evaluation of transportation alternatives and forecasting consumer
choice between public transit and automobile.  Detailed computer modeling of transportation options and commuter decisions.
Pre-release testing of US DOT computer models for transportation planning.

1973 - 1974              Transportation Engineer, Traffic Planning Associates
Performed analysis involving the forecasting of economic impacts of new transportation facilities and prepared public transit
studies for small urban areas.  Detailed modeling of traffic flow patterns and volumes based on population and
employement centers.

1970 - 1973             Civil Engineer, Georgia Department of Transportation
Performed various civil engineering functions including the design of bridges, urban freeways, and the redesign of high
accident locations.  Supervised a program for evaluating potential influence of highway characteristics on fatal accident locations,
obtaining grants for improvement of high accident locations.  Other duties involved economic assessment of transportation
alternatives and developing computer models for traffic flow analysis.
